What Happens in a Toddlers Class

Forget everything you picture when you hear "martial arts class." Our Toddlers program is parent-and-me by design — you're on the mat with your child the entire time. Classes run as a series of short, playful movement stations: tumbling, balance games, rolling, and guided grappling play that looks like fun because it is fun. Underneath the games, your child is building real coordination, body awareness, and listening skills at exactly the age when those foundations matter most.

Sessions are kept short and high-energy to match a toddler's attention span. There's no sitting still in lines, no memorizing foreign terminology, and zero pressure to perform. Kids learn by moving, and our coaches are experts at turning wiggles into skill development without your child ever realizing they're training.

Why Start Jiu Jitsu at Age 2, 3, or 4

The early years are when the brain is wiring movement patterns for life. Jiu jitsu is one of the few activities that develops the whole body — grip strength, core stability, spatial awareness, and the ability to fall safely. Parents in our Toddlers program consistently tell us they notice the difference at the playground: better balance, more confidence trying new physical challenges, and kids who listen better because they've been practicing following instructions in a fun, structured setting.

There's also the bonding piece. You're not watching from a chair — you're their partner. The shared mat time becomes a weekly ritual you both look forward to, and the trust your child builds with you on the mats carries straight into everyday life.

What to Wear & Bring

No uniform to buy. No-gi means no heavy gis — just comfortable athletic clothes your toddler can move in (a t-shirt and shorts or leggings are perfect). Bring water and an open mind. Your child's first class is free, so there's nothing to lose by trying one session and seeing that smile when they get it.

Program FAQs

Not for this program. Our Toddlers classes are built specifically for ages 2–4 and are parent-and-me, so your child is never on the mat alone. Everything is taught through guided play — if your toddler can walk, they can start building movement skills with you right beside them.

Yes — and that's the point. At this age, you're your child's favorite training partner. Being on the mat together builds trust, makes the class more fun for your toddler, and gives you a front-row seat to their progress every single week.

Completely normal, and completely fine. Our coaches work with this age group every day and know how to redirect, encourage, and keep things moving. Most kids settle in within a few classes once the routine feels familiar.

Safety is the entire design of the program. There are no strikes, no joint locks, and no hard sparring — just tumbling, balance work, and playful grappling movement on soft mats with a parent partner and watchful coaches.

Your first class is free. Reach out through our contact form or call +1 (951) 708-6644 and we'll get you booked for a trial session.

Yes — we’re an approved vendor for Mission Vista Academy, Springs Charter Schools, and Taylion Charter, so homeschool families can use their charter PE funds for tuition. Learn how charter funding works.
