Real Technique for the 9–12 Age Group

Juniors don't get a watered-down curriculum — they get the real 10th Planet system, taught at a pace built for pre-teens. Ages 9 to 12 are when kids can start connecting concepts: why a position works, how escapes chain together, and how to think two moves ahead. Our Juniors program leans into that, teaching genuine no-gi jiu jitsu fundamentals — guard retention, side control escapes, submissions, and positional control — with the detail and structure this age group is ready for.

Classes balance serious training with the energy of the age group. There's technique instruction, focused drilling, and controlled live training where students test what they've learned against resisting partners in a safe, supervised environment. It's challenging, it's fun, and it builds a kind of confidence that can't be faked — the kind that comes from knowing you can handle yourself.

Built for Pre-Teens

The 9–12 years are a turning point. Kids this age are forming their identity, choosing their circle, and deciding what kind of person they want to be. Jiu jitsu gives them an anchor: a place where effort is respected, where coaches hold them to a high standard, and where they earn everything they get. Our junior students learn leadership by helping newer kids, accountability by showing up consistently, and resilience by tapping, learning, and coming back stronger.

For parents, the anti-bullying value peaks at this age. A junior student carries themselves differently — calm, confident, and in control. Bullies look for easy targets, and kids who train simply don't read as targets.

From Class to Competition (Optional)

Some juniors fall in love with competing — and when they're ready, we prepare them properly: strategy, mindset, and mat-tested game plans. Competition is never required. Plenty of our junior students train purely for the skill, fitness, and community. Either path gets the same coaching and the same respect.
