Real Structure for Real Kids

Ages 5 to 8 are when kids are ready for actual structure — bowing in, listening to a coach, taking turns — without losing the fun. Our Littles program meets them exactly there: real technique, real discipline, taught the way young kids actually learn.

🎯

Focus That Carries Over

Following multi-step instructions on the mat builds attention spans that show up at school and at home.

🛡️

Confidence, Not Aggression

Kids learn control of their own bodies first — the calm, grounded confidence that actually helps with bullying situations.

🤝

A Real Team, Their Age

Training alongside other 5-8 year-olds means no getting lost next to bigger, older kids.

🥋

Visible Progress

Stripes and belt progress give young kids a concrete, motivating way to see themselves improving week over week.

What Kids Learn in Littles Jiu Jitsu

Ages 5 to 8 are the golden years for building a grappler. Kids in our Littles program learn real 10th Planet jiu jitsu fundamentals — positions, escapes, and control — scaled to their size and attention span. Every technique is taught the same way it's taught to adults, just broken into smaller steps with more reps, more games, and more high-fives.

But the technique is only half the story. This is the age where confidence gets built or broken, and our mat culture is engineered for the former. Kids learn to look people in the eye, to keep going when something is hard, and to win and lose with the same respect. Parents tell us the change shows up at home and at school: better focus, better listening, and a kid who stands a little taller.

How Classes Are Structured

Every Littles class follows a consistent rhythm kids can count on: an active warmup that burns energy the right way, technique instruction in small chunks, drilling with partners, and controlled mat time where they get to use what they learned. We finish every class the same way — with recognition for effort, not just talent. The structure gives kids a sense of routine and progress they can feel week to week.

Anti-bullying is woven into the curriculum, not bolted on. Kids learn verbal boundaries, confident body language, and — only as a last resort — the physical skills to stay safe. Our goal is a child who never needs to fight because they carry themselves like someone who can't be pushed around.

Confidence That Shows Up at School

Teachers notice. The focus, discipline, and respect kids practice on our mats transfer directly to the classroom. And because jiu jitsu is an individual sport practiced in a team environment, every child progresses at their own pace — there's no bench, no tryouts, and no getting cut. Every kid belongs here.

The first class is free, and no-gi means no expensive uniform to buy before you start. Contact us or call +1 (951) 708-6644 to book your child's trial. Families join us from across Murrieta, Temecula, Menifee, Wildomar, Lake Elsinore, and Canyon Lake, French Valley, and Winchester.

Program FAQs

None at all. Most kids in our Littles program have never done a martial art before. We start from the very basics and every child progresses at their own pace — beginners are the norm, not the exception.

Shy kids are some of our favorite success stories. The structured, encouraging environment gives them small wins every class, and confidence builds fast. Many of our most outgoing students started out hiding behind a parent.

No-gi means no uniform required — just comfortable athletic clothes like a t-shirt and shorts or leggings. No special gear needed to start.

Consistency beats intensity at this age. Most of our Littles families train two to three times per week — enough to build real skill without burning out. Check our class schedule for current class times.

Yes. Your child's first class is completely free with no obligation. Contact us or call +1 (951) 708-6644 to book it.

Yes — we’re an approved vendor for Mission Vista Academy, Springs Charter Schools, and Taylion Charter, so homeschool families can use their charter PE funds for tuition. Learn how charter funding works.

“We tried four other gyms after our trial class at 10th Planet and immediately came back to sign up. This is the only gym where my kids felt like part of a family, not just a number. The coaches are fully invested in your children and their success.”
